With his passion for creative welding nothing is diluted, he is able to take
something old that has history and give it a future.
Growing up in California, Pat was always expressing new ideas for gardening and landscaping. This landed him with an 18 year career as owner/operator of a landscaping and waterfall company in Arizona. He continually raised the bar with new and innovative ideas, and was awarded the Arizona Landscape Contractors Association “Judge’s Award for Residential Landscaping and Curb Appeal”.
Eventually, the waterfall company’s quarry led him to a ranch in rural Arizona, where he watched the sparks fly from an employed fabricator. This mesmerized Pat and triggered a “hands-on” welding education. Pat’s new fabricating path gave birth to “The Bernard Company”.
This company evolved with a passion for the rustic. With an eye for antiques and reclaimed materials, his creativity has manifested through the welding stick. He says that it’s about recycling, re-purposing and then envisioning a new life for things. The Bernard Company is over the top when it comes to reclaimed metal, rivets and rust. With his passion for creative welding nothing is diluted, he is able to take something old that has history and give it a future.
Located in rural Yarnell, AZ, Pat has built a studio using repurposed and vintage materials. The left and right sides of the building are made from back-to-back shipping containers to provide storage. The entire structure is wrapped in used corrugated steel. The office is constructed from old barn wood, and furniture is vintage material. The place looks like it has been there for decades, but it’s another form of Pat’s creative artistry.
